Into the Unknown

As I mentioned in my last post, this move and this journey with YWAM started from a small call in January to change what I was doing for work. Finally, after about eight months of prayer, various conversations, and variety of other things I arrived in Harpenden, England.

Unfortunately, this morning, I woke up with immense anxiety and worry. I was in a foreign country (8 hours of travel away from home), I have left all my friends and family, I have no money, and I cannot even fully afford to do the outreach portion of DTS.

So, I got up grabbed breakfast and opened my Bible to Mark 15, to continue my current reading plan. For context, Mark 14 is Jesus's arrest, where He was praying, "'Abba, Father, everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.'" (Mark 14:36) Then in chapter 15, you read how Jesus is chosen instead of Barabbas, by the Jewish people, and then beaten, mocked, and killed. In His final breath He exclaims, "'Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?' (which means 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?')" [Matthew 15:34].

Jesus obeyed the Father's will, even if it meant that He would die the most brutal of deaths, and that the Father would forsake Him. Jesus trusted the Father despite the consequences and humbly submitted to His will.

God was calling me to do the same. To trust Him, despite all of my worry and anxiety. In the midst of uncertainty and in the midst of the unknown, I am called to trust Him. And then, within moments I sensed God whisper, "I have got you right where I want you, trust me."

Then not even 30 minutes later, I had the incredible opportunity of chatting with fellow YWAMer named Wyatt. He told me his story and testimony. In 2020, in his mid 20s he came to know Jesus. Within a few months of his conversation, he felt a call from God to leave everything and follow Jesus into vocational missions. So, he sold everything and went to YWAM Kona. Upon his arrival, he had paid off all his lectures' fees, but not his outreach fees. The only money that he had with him was $200. He no longer had a job,

and his church back home was too small to help him fundraise any money. So, knowing that he was called, he prayed and trusted that God would show up. Miraculously the money came from a variety of unique circumstances, and he was able to go on outreach. Then when he became a staff member, and again, when he did not have the money, God showed up and provided what he needed.

God knew exactly what I needed. Just hearing Wyatt's testimony filled me with immense peace and greater faith, and it was a huge encouragement for me. If God can do it for him, then he can do it for me as well. It does not mean the journey will be easy, but we can trust an unknown future to a known God. Where He guides, He will provide.

So please pray for me and my anxiety as I continue to trust God to provide the resources to make this missions journey possible. If you are able to financially contribute that would an incredible blessing. If you are able to give, you can donate at https://my.charitableimpact.com/groups/cameron-lofthouse-lc18.

Thank you for reading, your consideration, your generosity, and your prayers.

Grace and Peace,

Cam
