Quiet Seeds of Growth

“Winter reminds me that even nature needs time to rest and retreat to its roots. While we can’t see what God is doing in the trees, we can trust that spring will come. Imagine how much more glorious His plans are for us. We, too, can abide in His truth that the season of singing will come.” - Lisa Rowell
January has been very different from the previous months. After a season marked by constant tours and ministry events, we intentionally slowed down to reset. Rather than pressing forward at full speed, we paused to implement new systems, clarify vision, and seek direction for the year ahead. This quieter season also allowed space for much needed rest, both personally and spiritually.
I will be honest, this season has been challenging. I felt ready to keep going, eager to build on what God had been doing across Europe. Instead, I found Him consistently working beneath the surface, gently uprooting my heart and drawing me into deeper dependence. There were long days of frustration, sickness, and soul-searching, yet through it all, God faithfully shepherded me back to truth. In the stillness, I have sensed Him whispering, “Arise, my love… come away” (Song of Solomon 2:13). It has been in these quiet moments that I’ve found renewed strength, clarity, and guidance. I believe this season has been preparation, shaping my heart so that I can step into the months ahead with greater depth, humility, and fruitfulness.
As God has been shaping my heart, the pace of ministry is beginning to pick up again. Over the next six weeks, I’ll be travelling and serving in several locations: this week to Jersey, then Bristol, and Loughborough at the end of the month.
I’ve also been asked to take on a larger role in worship, both on base and on tour, focusing on worship sets and songwriting. In addition, I’ve been asked to join our youth missions camp team and lead one of the missions teams on outreach. Each year, this week-long camp brings young people from across the UK and around the world to encounter God, grow in their identity in Christ, and be commissioned to live boldly for Jesus locally and to the nations.
As winter gives way to spring, I’m reminded daily as I watch the first flowers begin to bloom outside my window. Though it’s quiet and unseen at first, the life growing beneath the surface points to the fullness that is coming. I trust that the fruit of this season will become evident in the months ahead, both in my life and in the lives of the young people and communities we serve.
